On the eve of the 35th anniversary of the Beatles' U.S. debut, this stunning collection features the work of acclaimed photographer Harry Benson, who accompanied the Beatles on their first world tour in 1964. This new edition features never-before-published color photographs, taken in the past year, of three of the band members and John Lennon's family, along with additional commentary from the author. Given unparalleled access to the Beatles in their early years, Benson captured the Fab Four in their most spontaneous, unguarded moments and in memorable public appearances, from "The Ed Sullivan Show" to live concert performances. |

The
Beatles Files is a milestone in the history of Beatles-related publishing: it
showcases hundreds of the best photos from an archive that has remained - incredibly -
largely unknown and unexploited since the Fab Four's split in 1970. Throughout the sixties Britain's most popular newspaper, the Daily Mirror, kept a close eye on The Beatles' career, assigning its best staff photographers to record the group's every move. The Mirror's twenty-strong team of photographers - considered to be among London's finest photo-journalists - photographed the group on hundreds of separate occasions, from Beatlemania to bust-up: in "official" and in candid, off-guard shoots at concerts and rehearsals, at airports and receptions, and at parties, "happenings" and even on vacations. Only a handful of these pictures were ever printed at the time - most lay undeveloped, gathering dust in unmarked boxes at the Mirror's archives. Once developed, these negatives proved to be a treasure-trove of pin-sharp images spanning the group's career. The Beatles Files is a selection of some 400 of the very best photos from this amazing collection. With the photos arranged on a chronological basis and with a fast-moving text based on Mirror and other press reports of the day, The Beatles Files is a remarkable tribute to the most successful pop musicians of all time. |

A rare photographic portrait of the world's greatest band. When the Beatles first incorporated an Indian string instrument called the sitar in the first notes of their classic song Norwegian Wood, they would forever change the sound and direction of pop music. They were beginning a love affair with Indian mysticism and music that would take them on a historic pilgrimage to the ashram of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The Beatles in Rishikesh is photographer Paul Saltzman's unique and beautiful record of his historic meeting with Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr at this special moment in their musical and personal lives. Because no professional photographers were allowed in the ashram, Saltzman has captured the only quality photographs of the band during this time period. Featuring 75 original, previously unpublished photographs as well as personal anecdotes of encounters with the hip and beautiful personalities of the 1960s who visited the ashram such as Mia Farrow, Donovan, and Mike Love of the Beach Boys, The Beatles in Rishikesh is an exclusive and intimate look at the world's most influential band. It is the perfect gift book for Beatles fans, pop music aficionados, and anyone fascinated by this historic moment in music. |

Dezo Hoffmann took more pictures of The Beatles than any other photographer. He was the first professional to photograph them. He alone documented the major events of their career ... their audition at Abbey Road with George Martin, the recording of their first album, their first radio and TV shows. He became their friend and advisor, producing photographs that have become modern-day icons. This book shows for the first time the cream of the most unique photo archive of pop music history. Many of these photographs have never before been printed from their negatives, let alone published. They show The Beatles from before their first record right through all the years of Beatlemania from a viewpoint far closer to the group than any other's. Dezo Hoffmann is one of the greatest photographers of the world of entertainment. Here we see his intimate pictorial biography of one of that world's greatest acts. |
